To provide unified, visionary leadership to advance and promote learning in career and technical education
Themes:Â Marketing, Professional/Leadership Development, Curriculum, Legislation, Membership/Networking
Theme:Â Marketing
Goal:Â Â Communicate about career and technical education and the IACTE organization to members, potential members, students, legislators and the general public
Objectives:
1. Prepare a membership package for new members (welcome brochure with references to website)
2. Update website with same information as above with links and include calendar of meetings and conferences
3. Promote the catch phrase for the Association
4. Develop recruitment, legislative and member brochures
Theme:Â Professional/Leadership Development
Goal:Â Â Provide vision, resources, legislative information and leadership to members
Objectives:
1. Develop a plan of professional development activities that are mobile and utilize current technology, techniques that are relevant to the members
2. Develop a leadership seminar for affiliate officers providing tools/resources/guidance to develop future leaders and seek corporate support for a summer follow-up seminar
3. Develop a "Continuity Notebook" for IACTE board members
Theme:Â Curriculum
Goal:Â Â Provide leadership for IACTE members on curriculum initiatives that establishes CTE as an integral component of the comprehensive high school system
Objectives:
1. Provide links on the IACTE website to current and developing curriculum/assessment projects in each content area
2. Provide CTE resources (e.g., state goals, standards, performance descriptors, assessments) locally, statewide and nationally
3. Partner and promote with the statewide curriculum revitalization intitative
4. Investigate linkages to post-secondary curriculum
Theme:Â Legislation
Goal:Â Â Be recognized as the lead voice for strong career and technical education
Goal:Â Â Cultivate and educate those who are in positions to assist in the development and support of strong career and technical education programs
Objectives:
1. Promote a legislative platform
2. Develop a structure for contacting legislators at both the state and national levels (e.g., contacts, website, training)
3. Be proactive in educating legislators of the impact of CTE (e.g., funding, legislation, future employment, economics, students
4. Develop partnerships with other groups/organizations, both inside and outside of education, to promote CTE legislation. (Suggested IEA/IFT be among those inside of education partners).
5. Update/develop a legislative online hadbook for member's use
6. Faciliate a review of the need and design for a political action committee
Theme:Â Membership/Networking
Goal:Â Â Analyze the retention and recruitment of members and develop/implement strategies to retain and increase members
Objectives:
Retention of Membership
1. Analyze current and potential membership
2. Assign a team to an existing state division
3. Lost members - send a letter or e-mail seeking their response to "Why didn't you rejoin IACTE?"
4. Review, revise and promote awards program
5. Actively represent the CTE community on the ISBE Program Approval Advisory Group
6. Advocate for membership in IACTE and related affiliate organizations as a quality indicator in the Program Approval process
Recruit New Members
1. Appoint a task force to identify how IACTE can meet the needs of postsecondary educators
2. Recruit CTE teachers/administrators who are not members
3. Actively represent the CTE community on the ISBE Program Approval Advisory Group
4. Advocate for membership in IACTE and related affiliate organizations as a quality indicator in the Program Approval process
